Job description

An established, charitable organisation providing primary and community health services across the Wellington region is dedicated to improving health outcomes through great primary care. Serving an enrolled population of approximately 331,000 people, this organisation collaborates closely with Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand, iwi, and other agencies, delivering services across the Capital & Coast, Mid Central, and Wairarapa districts.

Role Purpose:

The Service Manager will drive innovation, quality improvement, equity, and workforce development in mental health services, positioning the organisation as a sector leader. Key responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage with innovative ideas, seeking global best practices in mental health services
  • Foster partnerships to implement leading-edge practices in the sector
  • Use LEAN methodology to enhance mental health services
  • Utilise data to track and improve service delivery outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with Te Whatu Ora National Health targets and internal quality measures
  • Actively address performance gaps and drive improvement
  • Apply an equity lens in all initiatives, ensuring services promote Māori health outcomes
  • Develop culturally responsive practices to address Māori community needs.
  • Support the development of a diverse, skilled primary mental health workforce
  • Facilitate student placements and internships, fostering the next generation of mental health professionals
  • Oversee key initiatives, including Integrated Primary Mental Health and Addictions Services, the 18 to 25-year-old Integrated Therapies pilot and national service development
