INTRO

As a Health & Safety Advisor with this national company you will be reporting to the Safety and Wellbeing Manager and be responsible via training and feedback, to implement, monitor and audit compliance with the company's health, safety and environmental policies and procedures. Some travel will be involved to undertake inspections, reviews, investigations and to attend meetings, and you will enjoy considerable autonomy and responsibility but still within a supportive H & S team environment across NZ.

KEY TASKS

People and Capability

  • Facilitating briefings and training sessions to employees, subcontractors and clients' representatives when required
  • Communicating health and safety policies, procedures, resources and Employee Handbook via team and toolbox meetings
  • Promoting consultation and discussion on health, safety and environmental issues
  • Role modelling leadership in health and safety management
  • Participating in the company's Health & Safety Group etc

Customers, Communities and Stakeholders

  • Enjoy and demonstrate understanding of the community our client works in and apply in-depth knowledge of customers and company contracts to provide high quality outcomes

Audits and Site Inspections

  • Carry out and oversee health and safety auditing procedures
  • Follow up on non-compliance reported through site inspections carried out by operations teams
  • Participate in management systems audits, inspections, investigations and meetings

Compliance & Risk

  • Participate in the implementation of the Health and Safety Plan by assisting with regular reviews, asessing any new equipment hazards etc
  • Oversee the work done by staff, and subcontractors (includes induction support) and refer non-compliances to the staff members' line managers, and Safety and Wellbeing Manager
  • Be involved in health, safety, quality, environment and risk initiatives
  • Assume management of a site if any accident/incident, ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of the team are a priority at all times
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.

General

  • Communciation with your Health & Safety team members and your Manager; also as practicable, the Ops team, subcontractors and clients
  • Commercial acumen, be financially aware of costs under your control

YOU

  • Will have worked at the level of a Health & Safety Advisor
  • Have a Full Drivers Licence
  • Have a passion for H & S, environmental issues and compliance
  • Be composed, truthful, direct, helpful and a trusted colleague who relates well to all kinds of people
  • Someone who sees conflicts as opportunities, who reads situations quickly and is good at focused listening
  • A Tertiary qualification in health and safety management or environmental science is a plus
  • 2 years' in a Quality Management Systems position in the maintenance or property sector would be a plus but not essential
  • Full NZ legal work rights as this is a permanent role

OFFER

  • A negotiable salary range up to six figures depending on the length of your experience as a Health & Safety Advisor ie if you have limited experience as an Advisor but know the Property repair sector, please still apply
  • NOTE Opportunity to start immediately into a Senior H & S Advisor role at another location in central Auckland, or progress into this (a higher salary applies)
  • Full use of a company car (a small sedan, this includes personal weekend use)
  • Flexible hours ie 7am to 4pm to 8am to 5pm with an hour for lunch (no WFH - you need to be available for field visits ie possibly 4-5x a week)
